The academic schedule includes weekly classes in the special areas of art, music, physical education, and computers. This program is project-based and designed to enrich a student’s curricular program with a focus on higher order thinking and problem solving skills while incorporating content from the academic areas. A Gifted and Talented program is being offered to identified students. For mathematics, the in-class support model is also utilized in grades 2-5. Logan Elementary School is also very fortunate to have four classroom aides who provide support for the students during writers’ workshop and independent center activity time. Basic skills instruction for English Language Arts is offered through an in-class support model to supplement reading and writing skills. Enrichment and remedial services are provided to address students’ individual learning needs.
Our mathematics resource is enVision Math 2.0 which is aligned to the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and the Common Core State Standards. Strong emphasis is placed on the Balanced Literacy approach incorporating reader’s workshop, guided reading, writer’s workshop, and word study. Students at all grade levels are instructed using various methods including small group instruction and the workshop model in English Language Arts and Mathematics classes. The Logan Township School District curriculum is rigorous, designed to meet the needs of all students, and is aligned with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for all subject areas. In addition, outstanding educational resources are utilized to enhance classroom instruction. Logan Elementary School promotes excellent teaching and the implementation of effective instructional strategies.
Although two separate schools, Logan Elementary and Logan Middle Schools are housed in the same facility and share common areas such as the gymnasium, cafeteria, and library.īased on the belief that all children are capable of and entitled to the best available education, Logan Elementary School provides many educational opportunities for children to reach high achievement levels and affords them the possibilities for learning both within and beyond the school day. Logan Elementary School is one of three schools in the Logan Township School District which serves approximately 360 students in grades 2-5.
